Job Details

The successful candidate should be a Graduate with a degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or Control and Instrumentation. Preference will be given to Graduates with industrial experience, although outstanding new Graduates will be fully considered.

The applicant should show a keen interest and willingness to work towards Membership of a recognised Professional Engineering Institute such as the IET, and eventually apply for Professional Registration (Chartered Engineer) for which full support would be given from the company.

The successful candidate must be willing to work as both part of a small team as well as being a self-starter willing to use own initiative when required.

The applicant must be keen to learn all aspects of the engineering design process and be willing to support projects from cradle to grave.

Key Responsibilities

Below are some of the main duties for the Assistant Electrical Engineer, some of which will be developed as time progresses:

  • Administration support to senior Electrical Engineers.
  • Specification of process control requirements and components.
  • Generation of electrical and technical specifications.
  • Installation and commissioning of equipment (Locally and abroad).
  • Production of engineering drawings and documentation including: Single Line Diagrams, Block Cable Diagrams, General Electrical Equipment Layouts, Lighting Layouts, Cable Schedules etc.
  • Review of subcontractor Electrical designs.
  • PLC Programming and modification.
  • Technical support to our satellite network, and other departments within the company.
Experience / Skills

A working knowledge of the following software packages would be advantageous:

  • AutoCAD 2004 and Above.
  • Solidworks Electrical.
  • Amtech Cable Calculations.
  • Allen Bradley RSLogix 500 (other PLC software experience will be advantageous).
  • Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, etc.).

Essential Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree.
  • Computer savvy.
  • Analytical mind-set.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 17th Edition.
  • PLC Programming.
  • Electrical control design / EC&I knowledge.
  • Experience of an Engineering Project Management and consultancy environment.
